Chicken Casserole

Ingredients

20g butter or oil
60g leeks
120g chicken thigh, diced
1 medium carrot, peeled and diced
175g sweet potato, peeled and diced
200ml chicken stock
100ml water

Method

2 Qubie baby food containers

Saute the leeks in the butter/oil until soft. Add chicken and cook for a further 3-4 mins.

Add all the vegies and add the stock.

Bring to the boil then simmer covered for about 15mins or until the chicken is cooked through and the vegies are tender.

Puree to the desired consistency.

Freeze leftovers in your Qubies.

Tip: When you’re ready to introduce baby to lumpier food, add some cooked rice or cooked risoni (pasta in the shape of rice).

Chicken and Pasta

Ingredients

1 chicken thigh
1/2 cup spiral pasta (or try cous cous or rice!)
1 small can of creamed corn
1/4-1/2 cup pumpkin, peeled and diced
1/4 cup courgettes/zucchini, peeled and diced
handful spinach
1 squash, peeled and diced
2 Qubie baby food containers

Method

Steam or boil chicken and place in food processor.

Prepare pasta according to packet and place in food processor.

Steam/boil vegetables until soft. Add spinach leaves and cook for a further 2 mins.

Place vegies into food processor with chicken and pasta and process to desired consistency.

Add in tin of creamed corn and mix with a fork.

Freeze leftovers in your Qubies.

Tip: “You can replace the pasta with cous cous or rice. You can also use any combination of vegies. I’ve also used fish instead of chicken. I’ve also found this recipe aone good for starting to introduce small lumps into Luca’s food, just process it to lumpier consistency” – Jenelle

Chicken a la King by Sharyn

“Once my bubs have been up to the meat stage I make this for them and I make this usually with left over BBQ chicken and pasta” – Sharyn

Ingredients

300gms chicken (this can be BBQ chicken)
2 tbs Butter
1 tbs Flour
2 cups Milk
Cheese (tasty or parmesan) grated (to taste)
1/4 onion sliced fine
3/4 cup pasta (cooked very soft)

Method

Add the chicken and onion to the pan with some butter, once onion is soft, add flour.

Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until no lumps in the sauce (except for chicken and onion).

Add cheese to taste.

Add pasta to chicken and puree in food processor.

At meal time use 1 or 2 Qubies of chicken to 1 or 2 Qubies of mixed veg (eg sweet potato or the like).

Tip: “I also substitute the chicken for fish at times and the pasta for rice.”

Carrot and Parsnip Puree

(suitable for babies 6 months +)

Ingredients

1 carrot, peeled and diced
1 parsnip, peeled and diced

Method

Steam/boil the vegetables until they’re tender. Puree in a blender to the desired consistency. Adjust texture with a little boiled water or baby’s usual milk.

Make sure you freeze the leftovers in your Qubies!

Broccoli and Cauliflower Puree

Ingredients

(suitable for babies 6 months +)
1 large floret broccoli, broken into smaller pieces
1 large floret cauliflower, broken into smaller pieces

Method

Steam/boil the vegetables until they’re tender. Puree in a blender to the desired consistency. Adjust texture with a little boiled water or baby’s usual milk.
Make sure you freeze the leftovers in your Qubies!

Blue Surprise

Ingredients

Suitable for baby 6 months
1 super juicy sweet peach (canned is okay too!) peeled, stoned and diced
1 soft pear, peeled, cored and diced
75gm blueberries, fresh or frozen
2 to 3 tbsp baby rice cereal
1 Qubie baby food container

Method

Place all of the fruit into a saucepan with a little water.

Cover with a lid and cook over a low heat for approximately 8 min, stirring occasionally until fruit is soft.
Place in a blender and puree.

Add rice cereal while hot.

Wait a couple of mins and add more until you reach the desired consistency.
Pour into Qubies and freeze.
